To improve the mileage of the electric vehicle (EV), the EV motors are designed for higher power density and higher efficiency. Maximum slot occupation (MSO coil) developed to improve the power density of motors have fill factor up to 80%. MSO coil with large fill factor has large conductor cross-sections. These conductors occur additional losses due to the AC resistance. This paper presents a design method for the higher efficiency of the motor using the MSO coil. The shapes of the slots and the coils are determined to satisfy the output and minimize the resistance loss by checking the tendency of the output and the resistance loss according to the shape of the slot and the coil. Finally, to verify the validity of the design method, the vehicle simulation will be performed using advanced vehicle simulator (ADVISOR).
