Linear compressors are used in various systems due to their higher efficiency than rotary compressors. The linear oscillating actuators (LOAs) used in linear compressors have a segmented structure in their outer stators and permanent magnets, requiring 3-D finite element analysis (FEA) for accurate performance calculation. However, using 3-D FEA increases computational costs during the LOA design process. Therefore, this paper analyzed 2-D FEA methods to replace the 3-D FEA of the LOAs.
