The light-duty electric vehicles for personal mobility have a short driving range, but since they are city cars, convenience and economy must be considered. Therefore, the vibration of the vehicle should be small, and the energy efficiency should be high. The torque ripple of the motor, which is one of the causes of vibration in electric vehicles, can be reduced by improving the harmonic characteristics of the motor. In this study, the optimum design process is proposed to improve the harmonic characteristics of the high-efficiency light-duty electric vehicle, and the optimum design is performed by applying the stator chamfer and rotor notch structures. The proposed method shows that the optimum model to which the stator chamfer and rotor notch structure are applied is more advantageous than the rotor skew structure in terms of efficiency at main operating points and harmonic characteristics.
